I've been included in taxations for lengthier then I care to admit, both on the individual side (all my employed life-time!!) and from a legal point of view since passing the bar and following up on tax law. I've put up a lot of advice and righted a lot of wrongs, and I must say that what you've put up makes perfect sense. Please carry on the good work - the more individuals know the better they'll be equipped to handle with the tax man, and that's what it's all about.

Organizing Your Financial Affairs is an important step. Youre right, financial information is extremely significant, and so is the act of knowing where all your financial papers are located.

This is a wonderful and very helpful post.
Generous of you to share your knowledge!

Cheers,
James V.D. Woodsen

Thank you for your article. You provided quiet a useful information. You are right, it is very important to plan our estate in proper way and in proper time because an estate plan gives us much greater control over who will inherit our assets after our death. There are many cases when our relatives, no matter how remote, may have priority in inheritance ahead of the state. And they may not be our choice of heirs. We should think of it carefully.

NOT naming your minor-aged children as beneficiaries is such an important point that you make. Unfortunately, a lot of people just assume that naming them is best, but I know I wouldn't trust my teen aged children to have that large sum at once.

This is a very pertinent entry especially right now in April when finances are upfront and center. A divorce is a very stressful and emotionally turbulent time in someone's life and I think this is a great guide to pointing out or reminding people of very important topics that need to be addressed. I work for www.firstwivesworld.com, it is an online community of support and help for women navigating through the various stages of
divorce and life thereafter. I am consistently amazed at all the details that are involved in getting a divorce. Things that are so crucial, like everything explained about, that are things that tend to be overlooked when going through this turbulent process. Finance is our theme on the website for the month and I just read today and article on "Protecting Your Personal Finances" much like this entry it is a guide to avioding a "financial disaster" when divorcing. Check out the article at

Just my two cents
